Up

|

Just had one of those weekends I wish would never end
But I have to get up for work tomorrow again
5:15am to be exact
7 pm is when I’m coming back
Sooooo 5:15 rolls around and
Up up up up I gotta get up
Only 5 hours sleep for a 10 hour shift
Guess it’s gonna have to be enough!
Just had one of those workdays I thought would never end
Get home at 7, get up at 5 for work again
I Brush my teeth wash my face and feed my cat
Feed myself walk to the bus and don’t look back
Because in less than 24 hours it’ll be 5:15 and
Up up up up I gotta get up
Only 5 hours sleep for a 10 hour shift
Guess it’s gonna have to be enough!
Standing lifting bending for 10 hours straight
30 minutes unpaid lunch two 15 minutes breaks
I found out the hard way you get written up if you’re late
At least today is Friday and the weekend awaits
Just had one of those weekends I wish would never end
Going out singing songs and dancing with friends
Oh we all know these treasured moments can’t last
I have to get up in 5 hours, then 13 later I’ll be back
Up up up up I gotta get up
Only 5 hours sleep for a 10 hour shift
Guess it’s gonna have to be enough!

Earning Earnestly
02:21
|
|||
We live in a basement
And still barely make rent
No health insurance
And underemployed
I am annoyed
With the way we are toyed
With at work, like an android
They treat us the same
They call me the wrong name
Force me to play their game
While I shoulder all the blame
When the wires go faulty
It’s easy
to see
We’re all actually
earning earnestly
Earnestly earning everything !
Open your mouth and sing
See what it is the future brings
I can see you there right now smiling
And dancing real slow
Are you ready to go
Are you ready to grow
Are you ready to show
How hard you’ve been working
Yeah! It’s easy
to see
We’re all actually
Just earning earnestly
Earnestly earning everything!

Song for my Body
02:11
|
|||
Will you answer me one question
Whyyyyyy?
How much are they paying you
It isn’t enough
Why won’t you listen to me?
Why won’t you listen to me?
Why won’t you listen to me???
I don’t know what made you think we’re not a team anymore
all those years together and you leave me beaten and sore?
Left alone to die on the floor
I don’t know how you think this ends
But if I’m going down so are you buddy
Why won’t you listen to me?
Why won’t you listen to me?
Why won’t you listen to me???
Do you really hate me that much
Do you really think it was I that betrayed you?
I didn’t have a choice and you know it
I didn’t have a choice but you know what? you do!
So tell me old friend what are you gonna choose?
Please listen
Please listen
Please listen
I beg you

Friday Water
01:22
|
|||
Take a sip of Friday water
Think you can write anything
Stephen king doesn’t remember writing cujo
I don’t remember reading cujo
Mike Larson won hundreds of thousands of dollars
I’ll never win a damn thing
If I keep drinking Friday water
I’ll never sing anything worth a damn
Mike Larson cheated the system
Mike Larson memorized the board
I can’t remember a damn thing
Because I’ve been drinking Friday water
This song doesn’t have a chorus
Hell im surprised it even has words at all
Because I’ve been drinking Friday water
I’ve been drinking all night long
Yeah!
Now that I think of it
I’m pretty sure I never read cujo

Cycling
01:37
|
|||
My life is like a spin cycle
Yeah life is like the spin cycle
Of a washing machine
Do you know what I mean
Kinda feels like your drowning
Being Banged around and tossed about
At least eventually you will be clean
But Is that really something to be proud about
I mean your just gonna get dirty and used again
And thrown back into the torture chamber, by now an old friend
And the water fills up and the world starts turning
And you can't really breathe as the pain starts burning
Life is like the spin cycle of a washing machine
Yeah you know what I mean

Fieldwork

When I was a child so young and so spry my next door neighbor and I believed in rain gods. You may question it and wonder why but you have never set your sights on gods with long forgotten names. One day the air was so dry and the temperature was unseasonably high. That September morning wildfires swallowed the pines and then the thick dark smoke leapt toward the sky. Tears started to run from my eyes while we believed and uttered no lies as we tried our designs on for size right there in front of the rain gods. They were quiet, absolutely silent, when we danced and chanted their names. We thought one of them was about to get violent as the gasping fires climbed and copied our dance right behind it, but suddenly against all odds we heard the thunder sound and the faithful gathered round to watch the rain stomp out the flames. When I was a child my best friend and I would often play outside in the rain. Dancing and chanting strange and unfamiliar names. They sounded so scary almost hairy or rotten. I’d repeat the names now and dance the same now, but I’m afraid it’s too late all those names are long forgotten.

Short Song About Pain
01:02
|

The key ring is cold around my finger. I let the metallic sensation of it linger while I stare at the outlet on the wall for a minute or five.

Diving
01:20
|
|||
I’ve never really felt wind like this
I just saw a red spruce tree topple over
I can feel our our little old cabin shaking
And hugging on tight to ground
Ahhhhhhhh
A sensation like this is really quite something
The ground gives up and now nothing can hold us
We look to the earth to see it frowning below us
First we go flying
And then we go diving
First we go flying
And then we go
Ahhhhh

Checking In
03:31
|
|||
The grey sky goes on forever
The rain is cool on my skin
The mud between my toes makes me feel at home
The pain in my chest hasn’t gone away
Maybe I should see a doctor
The mosquitoes are really hungry tonight
The bites on my skin are red and puffy
The pain in my chest has been there for at least two weeks now on and off
The headaches only started 2 or 3 days ago
They are absolute killers
Maybe I should see a doctor
The wind sends my hair all in a frenzy
The goosebumps on my skin don’t outnumber my fears
The arrhythmic beats of my heart mimic sounds of a fish on land
The headaches just won’t stop it seems like they’ll go on forever
Much Like the clouds that make up this grey Euclid sky
They are absolute killers
Maybe I should see a doctor
(Bridge)
The squirrels here all seem to struggle to climb the trees
Their tails are bare and raggedy from mange
The moons been visible for a few hours now
That’s about when I noticed the odd colored moles up near my left shoulder blade
They are a color that I am in fact quite familiar with
Much Like the clouds that make up this grey Euclid sky
They are absolute killers
Maybe I should see a doctor

Song for my Mind
03:04
|
|||
Don’t you think I know that my legs are on fire
The pain sang so loud it kept me awake for hours
Don’t you think I know somethings not right
How are you supposed to fight a fire this bright
I hear you screaming
I hear you screaming
I hear you screaming
What do I do?
Don’t you think I know my lungs are on fire
Freshly singed I’ll feel this burn for a while
Burn them again when I buy a pack with a smile
Do you think I don’t know the harm do you think I’m in denial?
I hear you screaming
I hear you screaming
I hear you screaming
What do I do?
So listen I’ve been thinking
And I think I got a plan
I think it’s gonna work
If things don’t get out of hand
I hear you screaming
I hear you screaming
I hear you screaming out
Don’t worry I’m coming for you now I got a plan

You’ll never see her not wearing sunglasses
She tells you it’s so everyone can see the real her
She tells you this with a grin on her face
She tells you this with a grin on her face
You’ll hear her when she’s coming
Yeah you’ll notice she’s always wearing boots with spurs
She’ll ask you how your day is
You won’t answer cause you can’t see the real her
You’ll smell the smoke instantly
You’ll smell the smoke instantly
Consumed by your desires
We all end up on fire
There’s a grin on my face and spurs on my boots
There’s a grin on my face and spurs on my boots
Theres cigarette in my mouth eternally
I’m Gonna use it to set fire to the roots
There’s a grin on my face and spurs on my boots
There will always be a cigarette between these lips
I will use it to start a fire
And burn down his empire

Up Again
02:39
|
|||
Exhausted but we run on the fumes we have
It’s better than the alternative
Breakfast this morning non existent again
Can’t be late to work again
Lunch time can’t come soon enough
Dollar pizza again yeah that’s the stuff
Struck down but not out for the count
Get up again and again for as long as we can
Dollar pizza for lunch again
Can’t be late on rent again
It’ll be the days end soon enough
Leaving work going home yeah that’s the stuff
A couple hours of free time
Use it to cook dinner before sleep time
And then before you know it,
It’s time To wake up and do it again
We run on pain like cars do gasoline
Yeah Pain runs on us like athletes on a treadmill
Wounded but we’ll recover
We always do, we have to
Soon It’s the end of the work day again
Can’t stomach another day like this again
Hope We won’t have to soon enough
We’ll get crushed again, and again we will get up
We’ll get crushed again
We’ll get up again
Yes, again we will get up
